BRAZILIAN DRUMMER, PERCUSSINIST AND COMPOSER
João Cordeiro is a Brazilian musician, known for his incredible versatility and ability to play many different musical styles, at the same time he manages to keep his Brazilian roots, using his technique by virtue of his musicality. He graduated in Drums at BITUCA (Ponto de Partida Popular Music University), where he deepened his knowledge of Brazilian music with Master Lincoln Cheib (Milton Nascimento’s drummer) in 2006, and in 2012 completed a specialisation course in drums at the same school. In 2020 he studied
Brazilian music and improvisation with the masters Edu Ribeiro, Lincoln Cheib and Gladston Vieira in the residence program “Bituca de casa”. Bachelor of Music Composition from the Federal University of
Juiz de Fora, he has recorded with different bands and artists of the most varied musical styles such as Milton Nascimento, Emmerson Nogueira, Rildo Hora, Molejo, Duo Nascente, among others. He has performed in
concerts and tours in Brazil and abroad since 1999. He teaches drums at the state music conservatory in Juiz de Fora and also works with classical music as a timpanist and percussionist. In 2013, he launched
the “Drums Method for Beginners” , a textbook focused on reading and technical basics for those who are starting on the instrument. In composition, he specialises in contemporary electroacoustic music.
